Everybody’s Lookin’ Forward to the Weekend!

Friday. Aunt Hannah came to visit. Obvs the BTOML. Always love catching up with my HanBan. Then T.J. and I went to mall to get him new shoes for New York. Can’t believe he’s going there so soon to interview! Please pray for him that everything works out!

(You will notice that Eva is an outfit repeater… but I just LOVE those jeggings. Plus, look at how darling her boots are! That girl has more clothes and shoes in her closet than her momma!)

Saturday. Finished a gift for my sister-in-law’s little baby. Almost threw it away because I think it turned out so poorly but T.J. reminded me it’s the thought that counts. Pictures to come of that soon. Then we went up to T.J.’s parents again to hang out with his fam and to relax. Eva did a lot better today, which is always a relief when we are with others. We played with Kelly’s new iPad… Facetime with my family and silly photobooth photos.

Let the bed bugs BITE!

Thursday. I went up to T.J.’s parents’ home again  because I had a lot of work to get done for my dad and I needed some help with Eva. She was quite a handful because of some stomach issues, thank goodness for all of my in-laws’ help! I made dinner for his fam to thank them and then we watched Parks and Rec and The Office together. Weren’t both of those show hilarious?

The Week’s Recap

Monday. President’s Day meant no school or work for T.J. so we Just Danced it up at T.J.’s parents’ home. I got back to Provo just in time for the Bachelor club… can you believe Kacey B. got kicked off? Ben is ridiculous. He’s boring and has low morals, so actually I can believe he got rid of her. Kacey deserves MUCH better and I can’t wait for her to see all the episodes so she realizes her getting kicked off was the best thing that happened to her. I’m hosting the club next week, so if you want to join us, come over to my place on Monday at 7.

Cohen Joshua Jones

He’s here! The third grandbaby is here and I couldn’t be happier for Josh and Lacey. She delivered him late Monday night and we got to visit them on Tuesday.

Cohen is just adorable, and so tiny! He makes Eva seem like a toddler! Anyway, congrats to the Jones family! We love you guys!

Starting a Tradition

This is the first Christmas I’ve been away from home. Although I am missing my family and the traditions we have back there, I’m trying to take this as an opportunity to start some new traditions and remember that my home now is with T.J. and baby Eva. So, this morning, we decided we would open up our presents for each other and from my family since we would be spending the weekend with T.J.’s family.

The first Christmas present I received was from Eva. She slept from midnight to five and then five thirty to eight thirty. Thank you Baby Eva! And then the next present I received was from T.J. He stayed up with Eva so I could sleep until ten AND he made breakfast for us! Cinnamon pancakes!

After breakfast, we opened up presents. We considered getting ready first, but we knew we wanted to wear some of the presents we were going to open… so that’s why we look so mangily. It’s part of the holiday fun, right?

T.J. made me this amazing letterpress artwork. It made me cry!

Giving thanks to T.J. for the thoughtful gift!

Caught these two napping together when I got out of the shower. Adorable, right?

It’s not even the end of Christmas and it’s already been great. We are SO blessed! I forgot to take pictures of all the gifts from my all of siblings and parents, but I am so thankful for my family and their generosity! We are missing all of you and hope to see you soon!

And to the rest of you… Merry Christmas! Hope to see many Christmas blog posts from all of you bloggers!

{Guest Post} Dear sweet baby girl…

How I anxiously await your arrival. I already love you and can’t wait to tell you in person. I have watched your mother and father fall in love with you. It has been sweet to watch them prepare themselves for parenthood and to see the great desire they have to be good parents.

I remember the day I delivered your father, T. J. It was a difficult day for me as it was the day they were laying to rest my mother who had passed away only six weeks after giving birth to my little brother Allen. I was afraid and sad and missing my mom. But your dad came into my life bringing me great joy and comfort…a gift from Heaven. Your dad is my only child with blue eyes and while young, blonde hair just like my mother. I believe she sent a piece of her with him as they passed each other through the veil.

T. J. was a calm, happy baby which was such a blessing as I was struggling emotionally and physically trying to recover from having a c-section. I wouldn’t have my dear mother coming to be with me after his birth and T. J. made it easy to move forward.

There is no greater joy than that of being a mother. I rejoice that the opportunity has been mine. It is the most wonderful of callings. Little one…you are so loved by many. You are a child of God and a gift from Heaven to us here who await your arrival. We shall meet soon and it will be a joyful day.

Till we meet and with all my love, your Grandmother,

Kelly Derrick

Tradition… Tradition!

Every year in the Swainhart household for Thanksgiving, my mom would break out the ol’ flannelboard and read this Thanksgiving poem. We all made hated it and would make fun of my mom (in the nicest way) when she couldn’t get through the thing without crying. As we got older though, it just became a fun tradition. This year, my parents spent Thanksgiving at my brother’s home in Texas and, of course, my mom brought it all with her and my dad had to record it. I think my favorite part of the video is my Uncle Tim laughing through the whole thing,my mom’s Kentucky accent that comes out every once in a while, or all the background sounds my dad added.

Holly Samantha Derrick

A new baby has come to the Derrick family today. Lindsay, T.J.’s brother’s wife, had her baby this afternoon. We got to visit them this evening and, boy, is she a doll.

The new parents!

The happy mother, Lindsay!

You better believe I cried while holding her. Two more weeks, two more weeks!

So much hair! Oh my goodness, and she has curls!

The new Grandpa!

Her cute little feet!

Getting practice holding a newborn!

They told us they wanted grandkids… I don’t think they knew they’d get three within a year!

One down, two to go!

Congrats, Dustin and Lindsay! You two will be amazing parents to little Holly Samantha.
