Christmas with Vocal Point

I just love this season so much and am grateful for the Spirit it brings into our home. We have watched a bunch of Christmas movies already and also several Christmas specials. My favorite special so far was Vocal Point’s. You can watch the whole thing here. It’s such a great show!

Just a Normal Wednesday

Here’s our video from last year. Finn sure has changed!

A Saturday Night at the Derricks

We turned on photobooth tonight and had a little too much fun! I know this is an embarrassing video (plus terrible background noise and image quality), but I don’t really care. I’m just so grateful for a family with whom I can be completely goofy! PS-TJ said I could publish this, don’t worry! #relationshipgoals right here, guys. Not to sound like the girls on The Bachelor, but I love this man!

Going along with that last post…

Growing up we always listened to tapes in the car, and we had a couple family favorites. There was one in particular we still sing parts from. It’s called Standin’ Tall with Gratitude. I looked it up on Youtube and I found it! It’s pretty long but it was so fun sharing it with Eva today! Of course, the video won’t allow embeds, so just go to YouTube to watch it!

Home Movies

If you recall, one of my resolutions this year was to take more videos and then organize all of them. I’ve been doing well taking more videos, but still hadn’t done anything with them. Well, I finally took the plunge and am going through all of them!

It’s been quite the process. I first organized all of my videos into different folders, divided by year. Then highlighted them by month. Each month (or season if there aren’t many), I compile them into an iMovie and then upload them onto YouTube once complete so I have an online version just in case anything were to happen to my external hard drive. I eventually want to burn all of them onto DVDs, but that will be a project for a later month. I’m almost done with 2015 and it feels so good! Plus, it has been really fun to see how much Eva has changed, even within a year! I’m so glad I’m making myself do this because I love watching old home movies of mine and TJ’s childhood, and I didn’t want all the videos I take just to go into a crazy mess, deep on my computer, never to be seen again!

I’m sure you all want to watch hours of footage of me and my family, so I’ve created a new page for the videos up on my menu. JK-I know you probably don’t. But I did want to keep them organized for my own sake!

10th Day of Christmas: Longfellow’s Christmas

This is my ultimate favorite Christmas video. The story is such powerful, Ed Herrman does such a great job narrating (I can’t believe he passed away!), and the music is beautiful. Take time to watch it and share it with others.

I heard the bells on Christmas day
Their old familiar carols play,
And wild and sweet the words repeat
Of peace on earth, good will to men.

I thought how, as the day had come,
The belfries of all Christendom
Had rolled along th’unbroken song
Of peace on earth, good will to men.

And in despair I bowed my head:
“There is no peace on earth,” I said,
“For hate is strong and mocks the song
Of peace on earth, good will to men.”

Then pealed the bells more loud and deep:
“God is not dead, nor doth he sleep;
The wrong shall fail, the right prevail,
With peace on earth, good will to men.”

Till, ringing, singing, on its way,
The world revolved from night to day,
A voice, a chime, a chant sublime,
Of peace on earth, good will to men!

7th Day of Christmas: Mr. Bean’s Nativity

We have had a really busy weekend, so of course I’m a little behind on my 12 days of Christmas blog posts.

This is one of my favorite Christmas videos of all time. Mr. Bean is the best, and I really love all of his Christmas and New Years episodes. They used to be on Netflix, but for some crazy reason were taken off. Enjoy this clip!

3rd Day of Christmas: Music Video

Photobooth is our newest activity… it entertains Eva forever! And I must admit, I have fun doing it too!

One Single Bell

I’m flooding my blog with Christmas videos this week. Here’s another one of my favorites!
