My friend and I were discussing the other day how it’s so cool now to DIY. If you DAY (do anything yourself, as in homemade), it’s automatically awesome. This includes anything for your home or for your closet (oh man, if you DIY your own clothes people will love you!).

It’s also really cool to bake/cook from scratch. Oh, and if you’ve got your own garden, or better yet… have your garden in your DIY pots, then you’ve reallllly made it to the top of the list.

Now, rewind back to when our parents were growing up and starting their families. My friend said her mom canned food and made her kids’ clothes, but would never want to tell anyone because times were just different. Isn’t that so funny? We are so excited to post it on our blogs (let’s be honest, it’s probably the main reason we even DIY) but they didn’t even want people to find out about it!

So, let’s hear it. What are some of your current DIY projects? I’d love to hear about them, so leave a comment or send me a link to your blog!

  • I had my 20 week ultrasound today. It was very exciting (and she’s still a girl… I had a dream that it was actually a boy, so it clears that one up). She has all her parts and is looking healthy. About one pound and I think her heartbeat was 154? Who knows. All I know was that it was normal, so that’s good. The only thing that was a little odd was when you look at the her face straight on, it turns into an alien skeletor. I’m not kidding. It was straight out of a horror movie. The ultrasound lady told me that that’s what it’s supposed to look like, but I said let’s just look at her profile from now on.
  • After making a dozen phone calls, talking to a bunch of people, and looking up a lot of stuff online, I finally got a straight answer about BYU’s health plan and their changes. Most importantly, I found out that there are exceptions to those terrible changes, and we are one of those exceptions!!! Because I have been on maternity coverage (cover 80%), they will continue covering that since my baby is due Fall semester. As soon as the lady told me that exception, I broke down in tears and told her how much I appreciated her taking the time to look up my specific case considering no one else would do it and they haven’t listed any of the changes online. So, that’s a HUGE load off of my shoulders. {And there’s another person who thinks I’m crazy for crying so much.}
  • I can’t wait for Pioneer Weekend! We are heading down south to St. George and Enterprise. It’s going to be hot, but it will be so fun to see all of T.J.’s family (he has hundreds of cousins… I only have two! So it’s a big change).
  • I have so many friends who are getting married/got married this summer. The next couple up is Danica and Ryan this weekend! I’m so excited for their sealing at the SLC Temple!
  • HarryPotterwasawesome.HarryPotterwasawesome.HarryPotterwasawesome.
  • My goal for the week is to keep my house clean and pick up after myself. If you ever were my roommate you probably think that that’s the usual for me, but since I’ve been married I’ve turned into a slob and it’s got even worse since I got pregnant. Anyway, day two and the house is still looking great. It feels so good to have a clean home to come home to.
  • Last night I was really really sick. Something horrible happened to my body, I probably should not say the details or else my mom will make me delete this bullet by the end of the afternoon. So, I’ll just tell you that I’m fine now, and thank goodness T.J. was not in the bathroom or else he would be scarred. Oh, the joys of being pregnant. At least I’m doing better now and I’m a little more prepared for the delivery, right? The funniest part of it now is that T.J. thought I was going into labor early and asked if I was dilating. What a concerned husband 🙂
  • I know I shouldn’t say this, but I am getting excited for the fall. Just thinking about getting to wear my scarves and boots and, I’d say my fall jackets but I guess they won’t fit anymore, hats… it’s going to be great. Plus, I won’t be in school. So double plus.
  • All the baby bedding that I like is for boys. Will you all judge me if I get baby bedding with dinosaurs? I don’t like the butterflies or the flowers. Oh, what to do what to do! All you moms out there, if you have any suggestions of where to look for bedding (or any more suggestions about strollers, high chairs, etc.) let me know! PLEASE!

K, seeyaloveyabye. I have to go to my World Religions class now. Taught by a Korean. I can’t understand a thing he says.

Today is one of the best days. Ever. I’ve been looking over some financial stuff, trying to plan for the baby, and then I thought I should check T.J.’s BYU financial account to see if his FAFSA went through or if there were still some to-do items there. Mind you, I hadn’t checked for about a month, and then randomly I decide to check today. Today. Which happened to be one hour after they posted his financial aid money!

T.J. was granted more than enough money to pay for both Fall and Winter tuition. Pell Grants. We will never have to pay it back because sometimes it just pays to be poor.

Also, because T.J. is a very talented graphic designer (I’m not kidding, I’m always amazed when I see his work), he ALSO got a scholarship for Fall semester. So, that will cover for other costs/insurance/etc.

This baby won’t be delivered in a cardboard box after all! Things really have a way of working out, don’t they!

And… I get to see Harry potter in three hours.

The baby is out of control. She is kicking and moving so much (especially in the morning and late at night). I love it. I really do. It’s so great to finally feel her and know everything is alright. But the constant movement and kicking is making me feel nauseous! All that movement down there, it’s just strange… Will I get used it?

While I’ve got you, I want to hear your opinions on this video. I’m sure you’ve seen the photos before, they went viral a little ways back. My opinion: I think they’re kind of cute and definitely creative, but overall they kind of creep me out. Thoughts?

That last post reminded me of something that happened yesterday.

I’m kind of embarrassed to get this out in the blogosphere. But, I didn’t read all the Harry Potter books. I read the first four, but then was satisfied by the movies and just never got around to reading the books. Yeah, I don’t wanna hear it. You probably think I’m a poser now. But let’s just talk about how many movies have been released based off of books and how many of those books you didn’t read! That’s what I thought!

So, now that I’ve got that out. Because I haven’t read the last three books, the movies have been complete surprises (and the best time of my life not knowing). “But how?” you ask. “Everyone talks about the books, especially around the releases of the movies.”

TELL ME ABOUT IT! You literally have no idea how hard it has been making sure no one ruins anything. I have to turn the channel multiple times in one sitting so I don’t watch a single preview or clip. Then on Facebook, someone’s status gave something away. And to make matters worse, my boss also let out a big spoiler. It’s been so ridiculously hard.

So, back to yesterday. I was buying a water in the Twilight zone on campus yesterday. The girl in front of me had the last Harry Potter book with her and the cashiers said, “Will you help us remember the order they found the horcruxes?”

The girl was about to start listing them and I was thinking of all my options. I could run. No, that would look like I’m stealing. I could just get out of line. No, I really needed that water. Only one option left…

PLEASE, STOP! I DIDN’T READ THE LAST BOOK!

Yes, I shouted out like a madwoman, tried to make some jokes so they didn’t think I was such a weirdo, but they just kinda looked at me. I don’t care what they think. What was important  was that they didn’t ruin anything for me.

In closing, I can see several people out there who have read the books and want to spoil something for me to be funny.

If you do this, I will no longer be your friend.

From the first preview, I’ve seemed to be the only one excited for Cowboys & Aliens. I don’t get why people aren’t freaking out like me! First of all, it combines two great movie topics. Cowboys AND aliens! I’d be happy with one or the other, but BOTH? Oh, man. Second of all, the cast is incredible. Putting Harrison Ford in there was an automatic plus, and then throw in Daniel Craig? It’s going to be great.

Next, we’ve got Captain America. Actually, I think more people are excited about this one. It’s not just me. But once again, they’ve got one of my favorite actors: Tommy Lee Jones! (It’s like the cast of The Fugitive all got together and decided to make my summer!)

And of course we’ve got Harry Potter tomorrow. I didn’t think we were going to make it, remember? But a miracle happened, we’re seeing it tomorrow at 7:30 pm (BEFORE the midnight premiere, if you didn’t catch that) and now I’m trying to gather up anything in my house that looks slightly Harry Potter-ish to wear. Any idea on the wand? I’m planning on saying (while bawling), “Mischief managed,” after the credits, so I need a REALLY good looking wand.

So, many summer movies! I was satisfied with Super 8, but they just keep releasing more and more great ones this summer! Have you seen Midnight in Paris? I can’t wait for that one to get to the Dollar theater because I hear it’s great!

I used my bread maker for the first time today. I always forget to get the certain ingredients (such as bread flour) at the grocery store, so today I decided, who cares… I’m using all-purpose. It still turned out great, the edges were a little dry, so maybe the bread flour would make it softer.

Anyway, doesn’t it look delicious? I made a small loaf of cinnamon-swirled bread and couldn’t stop looking in the little window to watch the bread machine work its magic.

Today I met with some people today to move the medicaid process along and it turns out we do not qualify this month because we are so dang wealthy. Oh wait a minute, we are still really poor and are just barely over the limit this summer because we have more hours. Fortunately (?), next month we will qualify, but it just means that the process is going to be dragged out even longer.

Upon hearing this news, I had a mild meltdown in my car, but then some words came to my mind.

The future is as bright as your faith.

President Monson said that two years ago, and someone mentioned it at church this past Sunday. Pretty cool when we get those little promptings right?

Things will work out, they always do. Not always in the ways we plan, so we just need to have faith.

The following Mormon Message is more for me than for you. But maybe you need to hear it too.

I told that to T.J. the other day. He just stared at me. What I really meant was that that the limbs, both legs and both arms, were tingling when I woke up in the morning. It’s been happening a lot these days. I just had to leave class a little early because sitting in the chair for two and half hours was making my limbs numb, no matter what position I tried to get in. I guess that baby is stealing all my blood.

Which reminds me, I saw the following “autocomplete” on the fail blog and it seems appropriate to repost it here.

Maybe my baby is a vampire, too.
