Last weekend at the grocery store, I bought two zucchinis so I could try out those zucchini fries I posted about earlier in the week.

Then, on Sunday, our Bishop’s wife brought in zucchinis from the ward garden. I decided to take one, I couldn’t pass up the freeness quality. The one I chose could have been a prize-winning zucchini because of how huge it was.

Needless to say, we have eaten a lot of zucchini this week. Zucchini bread, zucchini muffins, zucchini fries, plain zucchini, and zucchini fries again (different recipe this time).

I’m kind of zucchinied out but proud that we could eat three in one week.

As I expressed in my last post, Pinterest is basically taking over and changing my life. And yes, that’s a bit exaggerative, but it really is somewhat true! It’s made me want to get my house in order, do my whole baby room DIY, and make more dinners for T.J. and I.

I found a couple of things on there that I wanted to try out, so I finally did today. We had BBQ Chicken, cuscus, zucchini fries, and a fruit salad. (For the recipes to the chicken and zucchini fries, just click on the links.) But let me just say that this chicken recipe is the EASIEST recipe ever. I just threw everything in the crock-pot before work, including my frozen chicken, and it was ready for us to eat by 5:30. Oh, and a tip for the fries. I think they would be better with bread crumbs rather than a shake and bake mix.

Last night I was in serious need of Skyline chili. But it was already 8 pm and too late to make my homemade edition. So, I thought… Why not just use a can of chili that I have on hand, add some extra spices to make it taste more like Skyline (e.g. cinnamon), throw it on top of some spaghetti and add a touch of shredded cheese.

It was going to be the best meal…

…Until I tasted it and for some reason, the chili just didn’t work with the spaghetti. It was like there was extra grease in it or something. I don’t know. It was just slimy and weird and so disappointing. Plus, I didn’t have oyster crackers. Double disappointing.

I neeeeed REAL Skyline. PLEASE someone send me a can from home!!!

On Monday, I noticed a few girls from my ward talking about having a party to watch The Bachelorette finale. I hadn’t seen any of the episodes, but I knew I wanted to be in attendance because of the guest list. Plus, I am in some need of girl friends.

Yeah. It’s kind of a depressing topic. I have lots of friends, I do. But it’s really hard to find/keep close girl friends that you could just call up and go shopping with or just hang out with on a Monday night. I think it’s because once you get married, your best friend and your entire world is your husband. Which is how it’s supposed to be. But every girl NEEDS a couple girl friends on the side for an occasional froyo run.

Am I right?

Anyway, back to this Bachelorette finale. I told the gals I was in, tried to make some homemade toffee (my speciality… or so I thought until I burnt it), picked up some Kisses instead, and headed over to Sarah‘s house. She was such a wonderful hostess and provided delicious and romantic food for us to enjoy, such as chocolate covered strawberries and white chocolate popcorn (which reminds me, I really need that recipe). And an added romantic bonus, she lit candles to really set the mood for the finale.

Sarah’s house was the perfect place for such a party (not to mention, I got to see her darling daughters) because of her projector screen and DVR. The funniest part of the whole night was that in every commercial break, instead of fast forwarding, we just paused the commercials and chatted about what had just happened and who’s team we were on.

JP! No, wait… BEN! Or maybe I do like JP… I DON’T KNOW! Both?

So, that was the night. It was wonderful and I hadn’t laughed so much with a bunch of girls in a while. And let’s just say, I cannot wait for The Bachelor season to start!

As I have been walking to our car lately, I have hear a little rustling in the bushes next to the walkway. I try not to think about it because I have been scared to death it’s a snake. But today, I found out what it was.

BABY QUAIL!!!

We’ve got a new set and they’re as adorable as the group last summer! They’re sooooo tiny and follow their momma up and down the sidewalk, with their Dad as the watchman (watch-bird?). I saw them today for the first time out of my kitchen window, let out a huge squeal (thought of Hannah and how much she would love them) and tried to take a photo as fast as I could.

As soon as I opened the front door, they scattered so this picture doesn’t do justice. I think you can only see one baby and then the parents because the others hid. Hopefully I’ll get a better photo for you soon!

If you’ve checked out my blog since Saturday, you might have noticed my blog looking a little different. I tried out a bunch of new themes, and finally picked out one I like. Today I made a couple extra tweaks and here we are… What do you think? I’m still not sure if I like it as much as the old layout, but I needed something new.

I brought home the leftover aerated Hershey Kisses for T.J. tonight. I thought he’d love them because he loves anything Hershey’s and because I love them… they melt in your mouth!

But after trying them, he said:

I don’t get it. It’s just less chocolate.

I was in Banana Republic the other day looking at all the clothes that don’t fit me but dreaming of the day they will when I saw something catch my eye. Colored bobby pins. Eight of them, I think. They didn’t catch my eye because they were so unique or really cute (they were just plain bobby pins, I guess the colors were cute, but nothing unusual); they caught my eye because of the price. How much do you think they were. Eight of them, on a little cut of ribbon.

One dollar? No, it’s BR. Five dollars? That seems more in the price range, right? No.

Ten dollars.

Ten.

Still can’t get over it.

Dwight: What are you doing?

Kevin: I wanted to eat a pig in a blanket… in a blanket.

  • My belly button is starting to pop out. Starting to. It’s not an outie yet (thank goodness), but I’m sure one of these days it will be. It’s really bizarre. Pregnancy is really bizarre. Seriously, lately I have felt like I’m living an episode of the X-Files with something inside of me and growing every single day. Very weird, guys. And sometimes kind of gross. Just laying it out flat for you all.
    • (Disclaimer: Pregnancy is also wonderful, so don’t think it’s all disgusting and decide you don’t ever want kids because of the things I say.)
  • I am constantly hungry, although I’m not ever really sure what I want. I’m sure it’s driving T.J. crazy.
  • I finally joined Pinterest. Find me on there, please, so we can follow each other.
  • All I want to do is “nest”, but I don’t have the tools or money to do so. Does anyone have any cute, cheap ideas for me to make in preparation of the baby?
  • We haven’t been to 7 Peaks since the 4th of July Weekend! The weather better start cooperating with our schedules!
  • The new X-Men movie is at the dollar theater… I am so excited to see it!
  • My mom left me a voicemail yesterday. The good kind. About how she was proud of me, not to tell me to take something off of my blog. Made me cry and I made T.J. listen to it. Loved it.
