D-Dawg’s Married!

My close friend and old roommate, Dana, got married about two weeks ago in the Salt Lake City temple! (Just about everyone I know is getting married, I tell you!)

I actually got to attend this sealing, and it was incredible. I kept thinking about my own sealing in the same place one year ago. I can’t believe it’s almost been one year. Oh, but back to Dana and Jameson. It was so special to attend the sealing with them in the temple and see these two be married for eternity! I am so happy for both of them. They looked great, and by the way, aren’t you in love with Dana’s dress?

Ryan {heart} Kacy

Ryan’s (Ryan is T.J.’s best friend from high school) reception was wonderful and so was his sealing, but unfortunately I wasn’t able to attend. Two weeks ago, I went to Dana’s sealing and forgot to put my temple recommend back in my wallet. I literally thought to myself at that moment, “I should really put that back.” But I got carried away by being in the temple and forgot, so I just slipped in my purse. So, when it came to this past Saturday, I couldn’t find my recommend and I searched that purse from Dana’s wedding and couldn’t find it anywhere. I threw a bit of a tantrum, but I was so upset that I couldn’t go to Ryan’s sealing. It was kind of ironic though because Ryan’s recommend was expired and so he couldn’t attend our sealing.

Oh, and I found my recommend later that weekend, in that same purse I had searched. It was in a secret zipped pocket that I didn’t see before.

Here’s the wedding party. I must say that T.J. looks very handsome.

T.J. looks a little scarier in this one, but it’s the perfect Zoolander Blue Steel pose.

We decorated their car. Now, you may think that I wrote that on the back window, but you are wrong. My husband is an artist, remember? I did do the polka dots though. I heard that they washed the car right after the reception… they are crazy! We kept ours on the whole honeymoon, which was a blast because everyone would honk and wave to us!

Marriage is what brings us together.

My brother Sam is marrying Ashley next week!

I can’t wait to go home and be a part of all the events!

My Summertime

We were going to go to Arizona this weekend for a wedding reception, but it turned out to be too expensive especially with gas prices ridiculously high. But I told T.J. I still need a summer fix! So, we are heading to St. George with Lacey & Josh, my in-laws. I cannot wait, it will be a much needed break AND it’s supposed to be 90˚ there this weekend! We’re going golfing early Saturday morning, then resting by the pool for the rest of the weekend.

To celebrate this first summer road trip, here are three of my favorite summertime songs…

I love the 90s fashion in this one:

I love how LFO references these next guys:

And this is my newest summer fav, don’t watch it if you hate country music-I realize it’s not a classic like the other two:

Hair Drama

Well, after many comments and discussions with my friends and family concerning how to cut my hair, I cut it on Monday (pictures coming later, it looks very similar to April’s from Parks and Recreation). I decided that if I cut it short, I wouldn’t grow it out for a while because it takes so much time and I hate it when it in-between short and long. That being said, I trimmed it and cut my bangs pretty short. I even got it thinned a bit because it was so heavy and hot before. I am very glad I made this decision, especially getting it thinned (which I was nervous about) because it takes a lot less time to blow dry my hair, I am excited to have long hair in the summer, and I can still put it in a pony tail.

BUT there are some definite negatives about the actual haircut itself AND the salon experience.

  • I’m not in love with the bangs because they are shorter than I had imagined. T.J. keeps saying how much he likes them, so that’s really all that matters, right?
  • My left side is 1/2 inch longer than the right side… and it’s obvious. I need to get this fixed because it’s the only thing I think about when I look in the mirror. I guess until I get it fixed, I just have to tilt my head a little bit all the time.
  • When I was at the salon, this rather annoying girl who worked there but didn’t have a client, sat next to me and just chatted away and kept telling my stylist what she should do.
    • “Put in silk drops, the hair will dry faster.” First of all, I don’t like having too many products in my hair ESPECIALLY those drops of oil that will only make my hair greasy. She kept insisting and lo and behold, my stylist put them in and my hair looked greasy.
    • “You really should taper your hair around your face.” Repeat x 3. Listen, lady. I already told my stylist what I wanted and I don’t need your opinions at all. My face is circular and tapering around my cheek bones and neck will only accentuate that fact.
    • “Here’s a sample of some acne cream that you can just dot on any breakout and it will make it less noticeable.” When telling me this, she pointed to her face in the exact place where I have a blemish. If this was my friend I probably would be thankful that they gave me this little tip, but I didn’t even know this girl, she wasn’t even my stylist! I felt that it was a little tactless and slightly rude.

So, after this experience, I think I will be finding a new salon to do my hair from now on. Let me know if you love your stylist, please.

Like an Indian giver?! …I’m sorry, I’m not familiar with that term.

This summer my parents are coming out to Utah for their vacation.

I cannot wait.

As if it wasn’t great enough that they were coming out here in two weeks for graduation, now I get to go home in May for a wedding see them again, and see my parents for the third month in a row while spending a few days with them exploring the national parks around the area.

So on the vacation, in addition to visiting hiking the Narrows in Zion and seeing the Arches in Moab, we will be visiting the Grand Canyon (hopefully by burro this time, because I want to say, “I’ve ridden a burro!”).

The place I’m most excited about is Monument Valley. I’ve never been there before, but from what I have read and seen, I’m positive I will love it.

Red rock PLUS Native Americans? Sign me up.

Anyway, it will be a very fun road trip with my parents and a great opportunity for T.J. to get to know them a little better. After all, there’s no better way to fall in love with my family than to be in a car with them for an extended amount of time.

My Eyes Have Seen the Glory

Apparently I’ve been on a long hiatus from blogging. A long break for me is going more than a few days and I believe it’s been more than a week. And it’s not because I don’t have anything to blog about (oh believe me, I have plenty to blog about), it’s just that I have been ridic.u.lous.ly busy.

So, I’ve got to get caught up, although it will probably take me a little while seeing that these next two weeks will be the busiest I’ve had in a while.

Tonight I want to talk about some odd things I’ve seen lately. In each instance, I literally have thought, “Wow, that’s kinda weird.” I should have taken pictures, dang it.

Examples:

  1. I was in the D.I. (our local thrift store) and saw this little girl walking down the same aisle as me. Then I saw something move on her shoulder. I gave a second glance and realized I wasn’t imagining anything. She had a parakeet sitting on her should. I later saw this girl sitting in a shopping cart and the bird was walking all over the car. Strange, right?
  2. On my way to drop T.J. off at work last week, I saw ducks doing something that looked moderately to extremely innaprope. Just on the sidewalk on BYU’s campus. But then I looked closer and realized it was two males ducks FIGHTING. And get this, there was a girl duck to the side watching. I passed the same spot later and they were still going at it. It looked brutal. By this time, there were a few boys standing and watching the whole thing. I kinda wanted them to break it up, but I guess you’ve got to let nature handle it’s own.
  3. T.J. and I parked the car on the Bell Tower Street last Friday after lunch and walked right by the Bell Tower when we saw the oddest thing of the week. A boy hula-hooping. But there’s more…. he was doing a dance and counting to himself out loud. Oh. My. Gosh. I felt so bad, but the laughter wouldn’t stop coming, I couldn’t control it. T.J. and I had to run down the steps because we couldn’t hold it in. Hula-Hoop choreography? Out in the public?? Maybe he was practicing to beat this guy:

Have any stories that beat these that have happened to you lately? I’d love to hear about them!

21+1=22

I am another year older and it feels completely different. Actually, it feels completely the same. But 22 will be a big year for me, much more exciting than year 21, I’m sure. (How many days until graduation, Hannah?)

Since my birthday was on Sunday, we kind of celebrated all weekend. And because my grandmother Penny celebrated her birthday for an entire week, I did the same. It’s amazing how many things you can justify doing/eating/buying when your birthday is coming up.

So, last week we ate out probably more than we should (we had a lot of B-day coupons), then on Friday T.J. and I walked around the mall and critiqued all the logos and designs (that’s what happens when you marry a graphic design major). But, I got a new shirt and cardigan (as seen below) and then we went to bed at about 10 and slept for twelve more hours. Happy birthday to me.

On Saturday, I had one of the 4 bridal showers, went out with Dana and Carrie, and then was treated to dinner by T.J. at Tucanos. It was delicious, I’m still full!

After a quick nap after the big meal, T.J. and went to see Unknown featuring Liam Neeson. I loved it and was totally surprised by the ending. I definitely recommend it, especially if you liked the Bournes.

Another post is coming soon about the actual birthday and my magical surprise party.

3rd Birthday

I can’t believe this was the third birthday I have had with T.J.

For the first, we had just been dating for a couple of months and my brother took us to the Bombay House for dinner and the Melting Pot for dessert.

Last year we were engaged for my birthday. T.J. took me to Gateway in SLC and I experienced Tucanos for the first time.

And this year, we have been happily married for 10 months. We celebrated once again at Tucanos because it’s the only day I can splurge on such a meal.

I can’t wait for the many birthdays to come with my sweet husband! He sure spoils me!

Sharing a Secret

Okay, It’s not a secret anymore. I’m officially allowed to share this family news through social media!

T.J.’s brother Dustin and his wife Lindsay are having a baby in November! I am so excited for both of them and know they will be the best parents… Congrats you two!
