It’s been a while since I’ve done this but it’s time to start back up again.
When we got home last night, it was a little cooler and it felt AMAZING! I hate to wish away the summer, but being in the heat when you’re pregnant is certainly no fun.
We drove about 1200 miles in two days and I realized that, out of all the cities we drove through, I would only want to live in four of those. McKinney, Colorado Springs, Denver, and Provo. Alright… maybe I could live in some of those ski tows in the mountains that were gorgeous (and probably cost a fortune to live in). But that’s it.
Root Beer is better than Diet Coke. Plus no caffeine which is a plus.
I had a dream last night that I went into labor at 38 weeks (9 weeks away!!!) and the baby turned out to be a boy. I was so annoyed at my ultrasound technician and kept asking her why she told us it was a girl… I was going to have to bring my baby boy home in a dress! Weird.
My new favorite breed of dog is a Golden-Doodle. T.J. thinks it’s the ugliest thing he’s ever seen, but I think they’re adorable! They’re fluffy, the name is funny (a huge factor), they are big dogs, great with kids, the one below will shake your hand and put his head on your leg. #1 reason: they don’t shed! Sign me up for one, please. (The one below is named Charlie, which was the same name of my dog growing up, so that also may be another reason I’m in love with him! Look at his cute eyes and fluffy fur!)
I haven’t had any sciatic nerve pain since Wednesday. I’ve been watching my posture, which I think has helped. Oh, please tell me it was just a phase…
I forgot that my belly is still growing. I was kind of under an impression that when it got big a couple weeks ago, it would stay at that level of hugeness. But no, it still has forever to go and that makes me absolutely miserable thinking about. Get this baby out of me!!! I feel like a whale!
I finished the second Hunger Games book and am half way through The Help. Maybe I cheated a bit and listened to The Help as an audiobook, but it still counts as “reading a book” right? The second Hunger Games book was incredible and so intense! I hear the third one’s ending is a bit of a let down, but I’m still excited to finish the series. And then The Help is SO good, but so sad at times. It’s crazy that it was just fifty years ago when all of it was happening. Bizarre.

Hairspray is on ABC Family right now! I’m sad to admit that I didn’t see the 2007 version when it first came out because all of my roommates were obsessed with it and so it made me not want to see it… weird logic, I know. Anyway, when I did finally see it, it was the BTOML! I bought the soundtrack immediately and have loved it ever since!

Last week when work was ending, I told T.J. how I wished I would have worked harder at my job. It was over and I just felt like I didn’t try my hardest or put in as much effort that I could have put in during those three years. It was such a rotten feeling.
Then it made me think, if that’s just how I felt about working at my job during a small period of three years, think about the Second Coming. I do not want to feel that way about my life when it comes to the end. I don’t want to know I could have done better or tried harder.
I saw this awesome Mormon Message that kind of tied into this idea and how to live life to the fullest. The last line, President Uchtdorf says,
“Diligently doing the things that matter most will lead us to the Savior of the World.”
I encourage you to take the challenge with me to focus on the things in life that are most important. By doing so, we will live in accordance to the gospel, live a full, happy life, and have no need to regret in the last days.

Two years ago, in addition to just getting my wisdom teeth taken out, I had an interview at the Harold B. Lee Library on campus in the Administrative Offices (LAO). With my cheeks still puffy, I met with the man who became my boss for the next three years. His name was Roger.
I guess the wisdom-teeth bruises didn’t scare Roger too much because he gave me the job offer to be a graphic designer and I accepted. Shortly after I started, I realized that Roger, among many others, would be some of my favorite coworkers (and bosses) I had ever had.
A little bit about some of the people at the LAO who influenced me:
Roger, my design boss. The most understanding boss you’ll ever come across.
Wendy, the office boss. Always has an awesome/crazy story to tell us about her young women.
Danica, the blonde-then brunette-then blonde secretary. The only person who catches all of my obscure Arrested Development and Office quotes.
Eliesa, the stylish secretary. Has the hair of movie-star and might eat just as many goldfish as me.
Jeanette, the hilarious secretary. Cannot hold back her laughter even in critical moments–so naturally, I try to push her limits.
Cassandra, the secretary who’s not really a secretary. The sweetest freshman you’ll ever meet.
Christopher, my fellow graphic-designer. Always helped me with the projects I didn’t want to do–even if he didn’t want to do them either.
There were many more secretaries, graphic designers, and administrators who all helped to make these past three years some of the best. And all the times we had together will be memories I’ll keep forever: The day the alarms went off and we thought it was a terrorist attack, the day I cut my finger and had to go to the Health Center, the fall conferences I was allowed to attend, the many MANY gchats we had when we were sitting next to each other, all the crazy projects we had to do, the day Rebecca Black’s Friday video came out, the day the HBLL released the Newspice video, all the food we got to eat (oh, so much food), the time we got to watch Jimmer in the conference room, the time we got to taste-test Yogurtland for “work purposes.”
Believe me, I wouldn’t be leaving this place if there was anyway for me to stay. But unfortunately, rules are rules. And BYU is kicking me out after graduation. I loved my job and am so grateful that I had the opportunity to work for the library. Now, I’ve gotta wrap this up because I’m a hormonal pregnant woman who is about to burst into tears right here at work.
So, here’s to the HBLL and more importantly, the LAO. You taught me how to be a scholar. I’ll miss you guys.

Last night, I made stuffed green peppers for dinner. I’ve made this before, but it was a different recipe by Betty Crocker with tomato sauce. I was interested in seeing which one was better. In the end, I liked both but I think having the extra sauce in the Betty Crocker recipe really helped. So, if I make this recipe again, I might add tomato sauce into the recipe or just pour some on top once cooked. Also, next time I’m going to actually use italian sausage instead of ground beef. I just had some on hand and didn’t feel like buying more ingredients.
Oh, and funny story to go along with this meal… It took me about an hour to prepare and cook dinner and so it was about 7 pm and T.J. was getting really hungry. I promised him it would be ready in five minutes. He went to the kitchen cabinet, pulled out a box of cereal and was about to pour himself a bowl when I said to him again firmly, “It will be ready in five minutes.” (Meaning, if you eat a bowl of cereal right now I am never cooking for you ever again.) He understood my undertone and put everything back.
Guys, I tried another crock pot recipe this week (thanks to, Erica Messerly). I’m seriously loving these recipes where you just throw in frozen chicken and don’t have to deal with it at all. I don’t have a picture (oops) but you must try it. Oh, and p.s. I’m making a few modifications in the recipe…
Ingredients
1/2 cup dry roasted peanuts (chopped in food processor)
1/4 cup Vinegar
1/2 cup water
2 Tbsp Sugar
1 Tbsp Tabasco Sauce
1/2 cup peanut butter
4-6 pieces of frozen chicken
Blend all ingredients, except for chicken in a small bowl. Place frozen chicken in the crock pot and pour peanut sauce over chicken. Cook on low for about 6 hours. Serve over rice and top with cilantro. Enjoy!
I saw on Pinterest an idea to make your own banana and apple chips. So, I sliced up an apple really thin and a banana really thin, sprinkled them with lemon juice and a dash of sugar, put them in the oven for about an hour on 200°, and then tried this new homemade snack.
Apples: Thumbs down
Bananas: Thumbs up
I think I didn’t like the apples because they weren’t dried enough. I should have kept them in the oven another half an hour I think, but I lost my patience. The bananas were WONDERFUL and I wanted more. Unfortunately, I didn’t have parchment paper on hand so I baked them on aluminum foil. I should have sprayed the foil because a lot of the bananas wouldn’t come off. So, word to the wise… use parchment paper if you want to try this yourself, and cut up more than one banana because you will want more!
