A couple weeks ago, my friend Erin invited me to go see Twilight with her and some friends on the night of the premiere. Fortunately, the tickets were for 10 pm, not midnight… I don’t think I could do a minight showing anymore!

I actually loved the movie. I never read the books or really got into the other movies, although I always saw them and enjoy watching them from time to time when I need a cheesy chick flick to watch. But this last one, it was intense and Bella and Edward were actually enjoyable to watch since they weren’t so depressed the whole time.

I wanted to report on some Pinterest finds I’ve tried out recently. I’ve learned that you can’t trust every blogosphere out there… ha!

So, first things first. I just made these tonight because I want to make a funfetti cake for Eva’s birthday and thought funfetti cookies would also be awesome. Here’s the link. If you have a severe sweet tooth, maybe you’ll them but they were just too intense for me. Maybe it was the type of sprinkles I used? Who knows. But one thing I do know… I feel sick after one cookie!

Last week I tried to make this peanut butter fudge link. I made the terrible mistake of DOUBLING the recipe because it was for a church activity. It turned out horribly. I don’t know what happened. But I had to throw away two 13×9 pans of awful fudge. I do still suggest making another recipe for fudge and wrapping them like reindeer because it’s adorable!

I crafted my own glitter reindeer like the one below. I found the idea on Pinterest-linking to this blog. I immediately fell in love with the idea and we had all the stuff on hand, so I went for it. I first used modge podge and it failed miserably. But, after reading the directions over again, she said to use elmers glue. Worked like a charm except that the glue spread out a lot so I had to go and fix the outlines several times while it was drying. I’d recommend the project only if you have all of the stuff on hand. If not, it’s not worth your time.

Here’s another Pinterest bomb. I can’t find the direct link, but the photo is below. I dried to do that candy cane twist when making sugar cookies one night and it did not look like that. Who do they think I am? Martha Stewart? In my dreams.

After posting so many dessert recipes, I’m ashamed that I’ve tried another recently. (Don’t worry Mom, I’m still down the 20 pounds. It’s a Christmas miracle.) This recipe I found on Pinterest actually worked really well. We all have seen the cake in a mug cakes, but most of the time they require cocoa and I never have that on hand. So, this one is a vanilla sponge cake recipe. I topped it with a couple chocolate chips and it was absolutely wonderful. If I didn’t already feel sick from that cookie I ate earlier, I would go make it right now. It was so warm and gooey!

Lastly, this one I’m trying tonight. I wish upon a star that I could get gel nails at the salon for Christmas, but no mon, no fun. I’m going to do my own nails and try this. I’ll let you know if it works out!

  1. Crazy hair on a crazy baby
  2. Eva trying on my old baby Christmas dress… it fits!
  3. While I was watching the Christmas devotional, Eva was entertaining herself on the swing. I can’t believe it’s been a whole year since last year when I was overdue with Eva.
  4. T.J.’s beautiful chalk drawing
  5. Eva’s “Ooooh” face that she makes 98% of the time
  6. Last week I wore an apron while baking and then Eva put it on over and over again for a couple of days. So cute!
  7. Walking around the neighborhood to see the lights
  8. Graham crackers after a hard day of shots
  9. I found Eva’s Christmas present at the DI for $4.00! What a find! Also, for any moms around the area looking for great gifts for Christmas, there are TONS of items like this at the DI right now! I had to limit myself since Eva already has so many toys!

I usually go out on Black Friday, but I decided I didn’t want to do that this year. Other than having zero extra dollars to throw around, I saw this graphic:

Instead, we hung out with T.J.’s family and had such a fun evening playing Kinect, eating fondu, and decorating sugar cookies.

View from Dustin & Lindsay’s home. I love Utah sunsets!

Lots of food to dip into the fondu!

T.J. made a Scrooge sugar cookie. I just made a star and a circle.

Cohen rocking the sun glasses.

Adorable Holly

I was lucky to catch this photo.

T.J. tried to curl Eva’s hair with rollers. She ripped them out immediately.

This was Eva’s favorite face to make last week.

Eva was mezmerised by the Christmas tree when we first put it up. It’s “old news” now and she doesn’t even try to touch the ornaments anymore. Thank goodness.

It was a great weekend!

I’m having a blogging funk right now. I am not in the mood.

I have been reading my blog posts from November and December of last year. I can’t believe it’s been a year (almost) since I had baby Eva!

Until I actually post about stuff going on now, here are some of my posts from last December:

Special Moments

  1. This holiday season, T.J. and I have decided we’re going to keep it simple. Well, as simple as I can keep it. Mostly we just don’t want to go overboard with gifts. We think that will really help us to keep the Spirit of Christ in our home and reduce a lot of financial stress. It already feels so good to have less pressure with gift buying!
  2. I’m right on track with my goal of cleaning out the house before setting up the Christmas decorations. Seriously guys, it has been the BEST motivation! I have cleaned out so many closets this month and gotten rid of a LOT of stuff (and killed a lot of spiders). This weekend it should be finished and the Christmas decorations can come OUT!
  3. Hot oatmeal sometimes really hits the spot. Delish.
  4. Eva prefers walking to crawling now. We call her our little zombie.
  5. Talking about zombies, I finished the first two seasons of Walking Dead. Obsessssed!
  6. After the stomach flu last week, I’m finally starting to feel like myself again.
  7. I was going to make a pie for Thanksgiving, but I think I’m going to make candies instead. Including these Nutella truffles.
  8. I’ve been washing my hair only a couple times a week and then have used dry shampoo the other days. It’s awesome and I highly recommend doing it.
  9. We’ve been talking about post-graduation plans for T.J. often because I’m so excited for a change. The more we talk about the possibility of moving to Portland, the more it makes me want to move there! But Salt Lake, Chicago, and NY are all still in the running. And who knows, it could be somewhere we hadn’t even thought about!
  10. A year ago, I was 38 weeks pregnant! I can’t believe how fast this year has gone.

I wrote a post over here today about preparing your holiday outfits this season.

Guys, I had the stomach flu earlier this week.

Oh my gosh.

The worst. It was the absolute worst. I won’t give details for obvious reasons, but at one point I thought to myself,

I’d rather be giving birth right now.

At the end of child birth with Eva, at least I got a baby! (And a cupcake… gosh, I loved that hospital!)

That being said, I haven’t eaten much this week other than toast and crackers. So, I’ve lost five pounds since Sunday. I know I shouldn’t be too happy about that because it wasn’t like I worked out and ate really healthy to lose the weight, and it probably will come back really easily. But I have to say, it’s pretty exciting to be past the 20 pound mark this year. If I don’t gain back those five pounds, I have a real chance to meeting my New Year’s Resolution-Weight loss goal of 30 pounds.

Heck, I’ll even being thrilled with 25 pounds. And so will my skinny jeans.

Wish me luck! During the holidays, it’s just a good thing not to GAIN weight, let alone lose it! Goodness knows I can’t say no to all those delicious desserts… But hopefully I can balance it out with a lot of exercise and a lot of healthy meals.

I came across this recipe for supposedly the best pumpkin cookies ever that my friend posted on her blog. So, I had to give them a try because I don’t like the pumpkin spice cookies/bread from the mix. Homemade pumpkin baked goods are always better. I did half of the batch with chocolate chips and no icing. Both kinds were delicious!

So, give this recipe a try for sure! Beware, the recipe makes a LOT! I thought about doubling the recipe before I started but I didn’t have enough shortening… good thing I didn’t! It makes at least 5 or 6 dozen cookies.
