A Pinterest Party

I have a pretty fun calling right now at church. I’m on the Relief Society (the organization for the women) activities committee. We threw a little party last month where people brought treats from Pinterest ideas and made two different (very easy) crafts. We had a pretty good turnout and I think the gym looked nice so I decided to share!

A Warm February Saturday

The weekend TJ had to work so much, it was really nice out so I took the kids up to Temple Square and City Creek that morning. They played in the play area while I got to relax and eat Chick Fil A, great time as a mom. I loved watching the kids explore Temple Square. I got Finny out and let him walk around and have the time of his life. Needless to say, he took a great nap that day.

Saturday at the Office

One weekend at the end of February, TJ had a last minute urgent project for work that pretty much took him all weekend. On Saturday night, we got takeout from Chili’s and brought him dinner. It was pretty much the best idea I’ve ever had and should do it more often because the kids were able to run around, we didn’t have to wait in a long line at Chili’s, and I was able to get out of the house with the kids (I was going crazy!). Sidenote: TJ’s project turned out great! I’m so proud of him!

Provo Date Nights

Since TJ works down in Provo right by the Riverwoods, we tend to have dinner there often and make a family date night out of it. One of my goals for the year is to plan a date with TJ each week and most of the time we get a babysitter and go out but sometimes that doesn’t work out so we make it a date night with the kids. I don’t mind doubling with those goofs too much.

One of the nights at Riverwoods was the ice sculpture festival. It was pretty neat and just a fun night to get out with the family. Another night we tried out the Rockwell ice cream shop, which deserves the hype because it was soooo good!

Valentine’s Day

Eva and I decided it would be fun to make homemade valentines for school, so we made a bunch of butterfly tootsie roll pop things. Then, we went to Target one day and she saw Shimmer and Shine valentine heart things and she just had to have them! Ha! Soooo… we used the S&S ones for school and the homemade ones for dance. She loved making valentines though for all of her friends and family.

The day before Valentine’s day, Eva had her party at school, which she was thrilled about. I did cute little heart hair and she insisted on wearing an all-heart outfit.

On the actual day, Eva kept asking what special things were we going to do for Valentine’s day? Uhhh…? That girl just wants to party all day, every day! Haha! So we had two of her buddies over and they decorated sugar cookies together and made more valentines. After they left, I did this homemade heart hopskotch on the ground which I thought was such a cute idea until two minutes later when Finn ripped it all off! We rented Trolls to end the night. We had a babysitter that evening and got to sneak away to see Arrival.

TJ had flowers and chocolate delivered for me… so sweet 🙂 ! I’m grateful for this hunk.

A Date with the Jazz

TJ got free tickets to the Jazz Game one night and I actually was able to go! He’s gone to lots of games but I never was able to make it. It was so fun to be in the suite and watch a really close game with TJ.

Hot and Cold

We had TONS of snow in January. I thought we’d have the mound of snow in our front yard until Spring but then we had really nice weather for a few days in February. It’s snowed since then, but having a few mild days here and there has made it so I really haven’t minded this Winter. The snow actually makes it so beautiful and they clear the streets so quickly around here, it never is an issue.

Here are photos from the really cold and the really nice days!

Puzzling

In December, I started getting a hankering to puzzle. I’ve never puzzled, or had the urge to puzzle. I mean, I’ve done little kid ones, but nothing hard. I think I saw a friend post one online and it just looked fun. So I found one on clearance after Christmas and went to work on it in January. I listened to Serial and a few other podcasts while doing it and a second puzzle, it was so much fun. I’ve got a new one I’m in the middle of but had to take it a part a bit to get it out of my kitchen. But now that I’m writing about it, I think I’m gonna get back to it tonight! It just is fun to have a new hobby and something to do other than watch TV at the end of the night!

Oh, and PS-I glued the top one together and hung it up in my basement!

A Weekend with the Kids

In January, TJ went out of town for a weekend to go pick up a car in Arizona. We kept busy but kept it simple since it was cold and I was in the middle of a puzzle (haha!). The kids were so cute! One evening I took them over to Harmon’s (just the nice grocery store) and we actually ate dinner there because they have a really nice upstairs area with tables and chairs and live music that night. Plus they got to ride in the car cart, so… as Michael Scott says, “Win, Win, Win.”

My Dad Visits!

Right after I visited Kentucky, my dad had a convention in SLC and Vegas in January so he flew back with us. I’ve never had another adult fly with me and the two kids, so it was really nice having the extra hands. The second flight was from Atlanta to SLC and was soooo long. Finn was pretty much a terror, but I don’t think he was feeling too great and being stuck on a five hour flight was not his ideal situation. My dad has respiratory issues, so he wore a mask quite a lot. I couldn’t help but to laugh a little bit… Eva was so embarrassed!

My dad stayed for about a week and I was able to help him some up at the show. It was a neat experience to get to go to the outdoor retailer show! We miss you, Dad (and mom), come back soon!
