Hair Drama

Well, after many comments and discussions with my friends and family concerning how to cut my hair, I cut it on Monday (pictures coming later, it looks very similar to April’s from Parks and Recreation). I decided that if I cut it short, I wouldn’t grow it out for a while because it takes so much time and I hate it when it in-between short and long. That being said, I trimmed it and cut my bangs pretty short. I even got it thinned a bit because it was so heavy and hot before. I am very glad I made this decision, especially getting it thinned (which I was nervous about) because it takes a lot less time to blow dry my hair, I am excited to have long hair in the summer, and I can still put it in a pony tail.

BUT there are some definite negatives about the actual haircut itself AND the salon experience.

  • I’m not in love with the bangs because they are shorter than I had imagined. T.J. keeps saying how much he likes them, so that’s really all that matters, right?
  • My left side is 1/2 inch longer than the right side… and it’s obvious. I need to get this fixed because it’s the only thing I think about when I look in the mirror. I guess until I get it fixed, I just have to tilt my head a little bit all the time.
  • When I was at the salon, this rather annoying girl who worked there but didn’t have a client, sat next to me and just chatted away and kept telling my stylist what she should do.
    • “Put in silk drops, the hair will dry faster.” First of all, I don’t like having too many products in my hair ESPECIALLY those drops of oil that will only make my hair greasy. She kept insisting and lo and behold, my stylist put them in and my hair looked greasy.
    • “You really should taper your hair around your face.” Repeat x 3. Listen, lady. I already told my stylist what I wanted and I don’t need your opinions at all. My face is circular and tapering around my cheek bones and neck will only accentuate that fact.
    • “Here’s a sample of some acne cream that you can just dot on any breakout and it will make it less noticeable.” When telling me this, she pointed to her face in the exact place where I have a blemish. If this was my friend I probably would be thankful that they gave me this little tip, but I didn’t even know this girl, she wasn’t even my stylist! I felt that it was a little tactless and slightly rude.

So, after this experience, I think I will be finding a new salon to do my hair from now on. Let me know if you love your stylist, please.

Where did you go? I want to make sure to never go there! I went to the Aveda in the University mall (make sure you get Danielle) and I absolutely love the cut! Good luck
