Give Me Patience

Last night I watched the movie I Don’t Know How She Does It, a new movie about a working mother trying to balance the demands of her job and family life. I  broke down in tears at a couple points because I related with some of the things mentioned. Although I’m not a busy career woman right now, motherhood still is hard work and takes a lot of time and patience.

Sometimes I find myself getting upset when Eva won’t fall asleep or when the baby monitor starts to sound. But then she does something to remind me that everything will be okay and that I’m doing my best. She’ll grab my finger, give a smile, or stare into my eyes.

I want to look back on these days and know that I tried my best and was always grateful for the opportunity to be a mother.

Oh give me patience when wee hands

Tug at me with their small demands.

And give me gentle and smiling eyes.

Keep my lips from hasty replies.

And let not weariness, confusion, or noise

Obscure my vision of life’s fleeting joys.

So when, in years to come my house is still-

No bitter memories its room may fill.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this quote!!! Will it be okay if I steal it from you? YOu are a great mom and I can tell how much you love Eva. I really need to work on being a better mom, but I think that will never change. But as long as we’re trying over and over, and if the kids know we love them dearly, then I think we will be okay. 🙂
