Thanksgiving Flashback

As usual, around a holiday I always like to think of what I was doing in years past.

2014 • We were at Disneyland! Seriously one of the best times of my life!

2013 • Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade with my sister and her family

2012 •  Thanksgiving dinner with T.J.’s dad’s side of the family. Eva is such a cutie pie!

2011 •  Thanksgiving dinner with T.J.’s aunt and family. I was about to have Eva and was huge so this is the only photo I am going to share.

2010 •  Our first Thanksgiving as a married couple! We went down to Enterprise, Utah, and had Thanksgiving with T.J.’s mom’s side of the family. It was the first time I went into the wild to find a Christmas tree. Can you believe there have been seven grandbabies born since this photo? Such young newlyweds!

Every Thanksgiving I also think about the little girl I used to mentor back in Provo, Savannah. She wasn’t in my life very long but she taught me so many lessons on service and Thanksgiving.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Growing up, every single Thanksgiving, my mom would read this poem to us with those old felt pictures. They did it again a couple years ago and put it on video… I just love it and the message is pretty good! Hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Halloween: Round 3

On the actual day of Halloween, Eva woke up early and instead of being upset about it (as usual), Eva and I went and got some delicious Halloween donuts because we weren’t going to eat enough sugar over Halloween weekend! Ha! But really, it was so nice to start of Halloween listening to Halloween music in the car and spending some one on one time with that donut loving little girl.

We all got ready and then headed over to Cornbelly’s because we hadn’t used our bounce back tickets yet. It was crowded but the weather was amazing and we still got to do some of the activities there.

We quickly got ready for trick or treating when we got home and first went around our neighborhood. We ran into some friends and Eva got to T-or-T with them!

The fun continued over at TJ’s parents house where we took the cousins around to a couple more houses. They were so hyper, running house to house and just so excited. I’ve never seen anything like it. It was hilarious and really cute.

And above is sweet Finn in his skeleton sleeper. We had a great weekend (and month celebrating), but Sunday night, I couldn’t help but put all of the Halloween decorations away. It was fun I’m ready to move on to Thanksgiving and Christmas!

Halloween: Round 2

We had quite the Halloween weekend, actually… Halloween Week.

On Monday, we invited a handful of families over from our neighborhood to carve/paint pumpkins. I think six families came, so it was quite a packed house but so fun to finally get to know some neighbors.

On the Wednesday before Halloween, I took Eva to the Outlets which are like two minutes away for a magic show and trick or treating. The magic show was really entertaining for the kids (kind of dumb, if you ask me, but Eva got a big kick out of it). The trick or treating was a total bust. They ran out of candy in like five minutes. We went home with three or four pieces (and a new cardigan from Banana). Eva didn’t mind too much though, she still had fun looking at everyone’s costumes.

Friday, after I dropped Eva off at school, Finn and I had lunch at TJ’s office and got to see his team all dressed up. We thought they were going to win the contest for the best group costume, but there was another team who were people on a roller coaster and that was pretty awesome. But TJ did win the pumpkin carving contest. He carved a pumpkin of their CEO!

Afterwards, TJ and I went to Eva’s school to see their costume parade and sing-in.

Once school was over, TJ went back to work and Eva and I went over to my father-in-law’s office for another Halloween party. It was three huge floors decked out in amazing decorations and filled with tons of treats! There was even a bouncy house, people making balloon animals, and a cotton candy station. Eva was in heaven!

Halloween: Round 1

This past weekend, I took Eva to Riverwoods for trick or treating. It was pretty packed, but Eva had a great time dancing with her cousins and looking at everyones’ costumes! Then on Saturday, we went to TJ’s sister’s house for a fun Halloween Party. We played that fun iPad game called Heads Up. You have got to download that and play it next time you have a party! We had such a fun time, and the kids all played well together in the basement together! Finny Babe slept through the whole party, what a party pooper!

Fall Break

My blog has officially become just a place to document what I’ve been doing and if you follow me on instagram, then it’s pretty much just a repeat. But this blog is how I journal so I’m okay with that… sorry if it’s boring!

Last Monday, Eva had the day off and my mom was gone so I wanted to have an extra special day to cheer me up! So, I took Eva to see Hotel Transylvania 2 (which she pretty much enjoyed, except the last five minutes with some scary characters) and then we carved pumpkins with all the cousins in the evening. Cohen and Haven painted adorable little pumpkins, Holly made a cat, Emery carved a face, and Eva (with help from her dad) carved Elsa! We had such a fun, festive evening together while snacking on delicious pumpkin bread and pumpkin pie.

Vivian Park and Gardner’s Village

On my mom’s last day, the weather was a little rainy but we worked around it and still did some fun outings! First, we met up for lunch with TJ’s parents, then headed down to Provo Canyon to walk around Vivian Park. My parents stayed there a couple times in a cabin when visiting us in college, so they always like coming back to the area. Sorry for the blurry pic-but it’s better than nothing!

In the evening, we went to Gardner’s Village for their Witchapalooza. It was pretty busy but still very enjoyable! Everyone was dressed up as witches and the whole place was decorated for Halloween. We enjoyed a caramel apple together and watched Eva dance to Halloween music with other kids on a little stage! It was a perfect last night with my mom!

Labor Day

In the middle of night before Labor Day, Eva threw up a bunch. Other than one time when Eva threw up from food poisoning (remember the historic Jersey City Ward Christmas Party Mass Food Poisoning? hahaha oh what a memory), she has never thrown up which I think is pretty lucky considering some little kids throw up often! But on Monday she was feeling better, just tired from being up in the night, so we went to Gardner Village with TJ’s family. Afterwards, Eva came home and slept for the rest of the day… she really knows how to celebrate the day of Labor.

Pioneer Day

Pioneer Day is a holiday in Utah on the 24th of July to celebrate the day the pioneers with Brigham Young crossed into the Salt Lake Valley back in 1847. It’s almost as big as the 4th of July around here, so since I was out of town for the 4th, it was fun to be back here with TJ to celebrate Pioneer Day together.

He had the day off because it was a summer Friday (Have I told you about those? Every other Friday in the summer if TJ works until 6 through the workweek, TJ is off work… best thing ever). We got up early and headed up to Salt Lake City to watch the parade. Honestly, I didn’t think it was as good as last year-the floats weren’t as impressive but it was still really fun and we had a good time. Here were my favorites… and since I’m so behind on blogging, I’m just using unedited photos right off my phone. Better than nothing!

In the evening, we went over to TJ’s sister’s house for some fireworks. Eva wanted to like them so much but the noise was a little much for her. I look like a huge monster here, but at least I’m a monster in a cute Mexican dress!

Beach Week

For the week of the 4th of July, I went with my parents and my sister’s family to a beach in Delaware. This is the third 4th of July we’ve all spent together and it’s becoming a fun tradition! Eva had a great time with her cousins and I couldn’t get enough of relaxing on the beach. Other than the beach, we spent a lot of time at the pool which had a lazy river and some slides for the kids, celebrated Amelia’s birthday (and got eaten alive by flies and mosquitos), watched some people who were crabbing, took the kids to a little funland place with lots of rides, watched lots of performances by the girls, ate delicious dinners and desserts by my sister, and zonked out each night very early! It was a great trip!
