Early this year, a friend of mine posted on her blog of an adorable mobile she made out of an old book. Last night I finally made it! For the tutorial on The Thimble Life, click here.

Wednesday night, T.J. and I had a crevening together! I wish we could have one every night because it was so fun working on projects together!

Here’s what he did:

Amazing, right? T.J. is so talented! It’s the first time he’s ever done a 3D pumpkin but it certainly won’t be the last!

After showing you those awesome pictures, I’m embarrassed to show you my little craft. But it’s pretty good for my standard. And considering last time I tried to make bows for Eva, I threw them all away because they looked so bad… tonight went pretty well.

The best part is that all of the bows are on clips so they’re all interchangeable or can be used as hair clips once Eva’s hair gets longer.

  1. I’m really getting excited for the fall. I put up some of my decorations, but held back on the Halloween ones (although I wish I could put them up already!).
  2. I’ve been saving up my baby jars to do this craft:
  3. Two days in a row I have made dinner for our family! The first night I made some garlic chicken with sweet potatoes and asparagus, and then last night I made crock pot chicken tacos. Both were delicious and easy! Yay to saving money and not eating out!
  4. Last Friday I went out with my girlfriends to the Women’s Expo. I got a lot of free SWAG and hoped I would win a drawing… but I haven’t won anything yet 🙁
  5. I go to Kentucky for two weeks next Tuesday. I can’t wait to see my parents!
  6. I wish I could wear leggings and an oversized Tshirt everyday. So comfy.
  7. Last night I had so many scary dreams and I “thought” I heard someone in our house sneeze. I’m guessing I had the scary dreams because I read an article about preventing burglaries right before bed.
  8. We watched What to Expect when Expecting yesterday. I love that movie. I love how it highlights so many different people in different situations: people who didn’t plan on getting pregnant, people who can’t get pregnant, people who try for a long time, and a couple who have a really easy pregnancy. It’s just so cute/funny/tender.
  9. Remember how my bestie Hannah is visiting Provo when I get back in town? YES!
  10. All of my favorite TV shows start back up soon! Can’t wait to see what happens in Parks & Rec!
  11. Last week I was having a hard day and so I treated myself to a French dessert at my favorite French bakery in Orem. Everyday I try to convince myself to go back because it tasted so good. Then I have to repeat in my head over and over again… ICANNOTGOBACKICANNOTGOBACK!
  12. It’s hard getting used to sharing a bed. Can we upgrade to a California King please??
  13. I’ve been thinking about our future a lot recently since T.J. graduates next Spring. I am getting so excited for a new adventure! It’s so fun to think we really could go anywhere! I’m really pushing for New York, Chicago, or Cincinnati. I don’t want to live in those cities permanently (I hope to actually come back to Utah if things work out). But I’d love to get away for a couple of years while we still can with a small, young family.
  14. Someone asked me where my accent is from. That pretty much made my day! I was pretty sure my (very slight) Kentucky accent had faded!
  15. This week I have been focusing on faith in my prayers and scripture studies.

I made these glittery jars for tea light candles. I want to light them every night.

  • My mom flies in tomorrow to help with the baby that is still in my belly! I can’t wait to see her. T.J. is so busy with school right now so it will nice to have her around to distract me and keep me company.
  • I need to clean the basement. I’ve been saying that for months. But it REALLY needs to be done. “Beer me strength to clean the basement!”
  • That reminds me, The Office and Parks and Rec last night were both incredible. Seriously, these seasons have been amazing. Who knew that The Office was going to be this great without Michael Scott!? I’m probably the biggest Michael Scott fan out there, or one of, but I’m not ashamed to say that I still love the show without him. Robert California is hilarious and I’m loving that they’re finally back to old-school Jim and Dwight pranks again. And then Parks and Rec… how tender was that episode? And didn’t you think the whole Gary/Jerry thing was awesome? Great night on NBC.
  • Is anyone else wanting snow? If it’s going to be this cold, I kind of wish it was snowing. It would add to the Christmas atmosphere, ya know?
  • I watched Water for Elephants for the last time last night. First of all, I thought it was really good overall. But, man… the circus manager was so wicked. I had to close my eyes over and over because of how horrible he was to the elephant and to his wife.
  • I’ve been drinking some Sprite today because I’m feeling nauseous. I feel like instead of helping my stomach feel better, it makes me think I’m sicker than I really am because it’s what I would drink when I was a kid if I had the flu. Does that make sense?
  • I had a Crevening (Craft Evening) this week with my friends Erin and Rachel. It was a blast. Rachel made these adorable Christmas trees made out of magazines, Erin made homemade snow globes, and I made a car seat cover. All in all, it was a success. If you ever want to join us for a Crevening, let me know. We try to make it happen once a a month.

Here is one my creations, inspired from Pinterest. Just some simple artwork for our living room. I had all the paper and paint on hand-all I had to buy were the frames which were $1 each at Walmart.

And, I thought I would share this cute photo. At the end of one of our Book of Mormon study sessions last week, T.J. was zonked out. Needless to say, he had to go back and reread 🙂 Also, you get to see how big the LoveSac is. It takes up a lot of room, but it is soooo comfortable!

My friend and I were discussing the other day how it’s so cool now to DIY. If you DAY (do anything yourself, as in homemade), it’s automatically awesome. This includes anything for your home or for your closet (oh man, if you DIY your own clothes people will love you!).

It’s also really cool to bake/cook from scratch. Oh, and if you’ve got your own garden, or better yet… have your garden in your DIY pots, then you’ve reallllly made it to the top of the list.

Now, rewind back to when our parents were growing up and starting their families. My friend said her mom canned food and made her kids’ clothes, but would never want to tell anyone because times were just different. Isn’t that so funny? We are so excited to post it on our blogs (let’s be honest, it’s probably the main reason we even DIY) but they didn’t even want people to find out about it!

So, let’s hear it. What are some of your current DIY projects? I’d love to hear about them, so leave a comment or send me a link to your blog!

I don’t do this often, but I NEEDED to post about my new favorite blog (Hannah, don’t be jealous, I love you too). My friend Emily Judd, the writer of Make, Bake, and Take, is the most crafty person I know. Almost everyday, or at least a few times a week, she posts a new shirt or dress that she created. Check her blog out!

Who’s that adorable little girl?

Oh, just my cute niece Claire.

Where did she get that awesome tutu?

Oh, just from her Aunt Katie who made it for her!

I can make one for you too, if you want.
