12 Weeks and Counting

Three months ago, it was Eva’s due date. I was monitoring her heart rate and my contractions at the hospital hoping she’d come into my life soon! Now it’s March and she’s almost three months old. I cannot believe how fast the time has gone. Everyday she grows bigger and does new things. She makes us smile, and the best part is… she now smiles back!

Grabbing onto things, rolling over, sucking on whatever she can… especially my arm, cooing, making random noises to let us know she’s here, sitting under her activity mat, watching herself in videos, being held, nuzzling into the crook of my arm, “running” on the changing table, playing with her elephant toy.

Dislikes

The car. She hates hates hates riding in the car. When she is about to fall asleep-she cries for about ten minutes straight, but then zonks out. Being held inwards. Reaching for her toys when she is on her belly.

Other Eva Stuff

Eva is now sleeping from about 9 pm to 6 am. Sometimes a little more, sometimes a little less. But I cannot complain… 9 hours is amazing. There is one drawback though, she doesn’t nap quite as long during the day, but I’ll take the long stretch at night. One year ago if you would have told me I’d be getting up at 6 am everyday, I would have thought you were crazy. None the less, here we are today! She’s up at 6 and ready to play! Eva is starting to play with toys. She loves grabbing onto things, especially her elephant that has crunchy ears. After grabbing things with her fingers she has to chew on it a bit… and she now drools, so that makes everything really nice.

This morning she drank a lot of milk really fast, I should have seen it coming. She threw up everything. Like, not spit up. Throw up. It went everywhere. My hair, my robe, all over her face–she couldn’t even open her eyes, her hair, my down comforter. Oh man, it was really rough. But she is quite a trooper. As I was washing her off, she had a big grin on her face. It made things a little bit better.

If Eva is in the right mood, she will try to talk to you. Her coos are just adorable. The best is when I am singing to her and she goes crazy making noise. I think she’s trying to sing along.

She is almost out of all her newborn sized clothing. My favorite nighty of hers (the blue one that has candy all over it) has seen the last of its days, I think, and as I put it on her for the last time this week, I started crying. I can’t believe she will NEVER wear that adorable outfit again! It used to be loose and now it’s like a body suit! Hopefully one day (a long long long time from now) we’ll have another little girl who will get good use out of it.

Anyway, this little girl melts my heart and I can’t imagine life without her. She is quite a handful, but it’s worth every minute.
